Impacted Teeth
An impacted tooth is a tooth that is not properly erupting from the gums, or is stuck. There are a number of different factors that can cause a tooth to get stuck and not properly form inside the bite. When an impacted cuspid makes itself known, your oral surgeon will make an effort to help it erupt.
Sixty percent of these impacted eyeteeth are located on the palatal (roof of the mouth) side of the dental arch. The remaining impacted eye teeth (upper) are found in the middle of the supporting bone but stuck in an elevated position above the roots of the adjacent teeth or out to the facial side of the dental arch.
